Tips For Australians and United Kingdom Horse Players Betting on US Races by Sandy Ford-Graham

If you are from Australia, the Uk, Hong Kong, or some other part of the world, other than the US, and planning on betting on the US races, here is a handy tip. One thing you will learn about the Yanks and their racing is that they love information. They have racing programs jam packed with every kind of information imaginable.

There are fractional times and lengths of call and pace figures and speed figures, just to name a few. If that isn't enough you can buy pace graphs and probably even find out what the jockey had for breakfast, if you dig deep enough.

You would think with all that data floating about that it would be a cinch to pick a winner, but the truth is, only about 30-33% of favorites win in American horseracing. As it turns out, horse racing is still a risky business and you just never know, well maybe you know about a third of the time, but the other two out of three races are a mystery.

One thing that takes a lot of the mystery out of the horse racing from across the pond is the workout times. Horses workout on the track or at a training center and are timed by professional clockers who do a good job of identifying and timing the runners.

Many players over look the importance of those times, but believe me, they are like gold if you know how to use them. For that you need to familiarize yourself with a good racing system from the states and then practice reading workout times and finding clues to horses that are ready to win.

Just like watching your favorite footy team practice, you can learn a lot from reading about the horse's workouts.
